The Epicurious Wanderers!

3Ds International Tourist Home

Ok, what do you say about 3Ds? The Tripadvisor reviews were on the whole favourable so we booked for our overnight stop in Mauritius on the way to Kruger. We were picked up without a problem and driven to 3Ds, which as advertised is about 10 minutes from the airport, so very handy. The young man who drove us was very silent all the way back.

On arriving we filled in the old fashioned paper ledger, haven’t seen that for ages! We were then shown to our room, mmmm, to say nothing like the photos on website is an understatement. It felt very old, furniture straight out of the 60s. The tiled walls and ceiling were amazing, quite a clash of colours. The bathroom is small but functional, just don’t expect the door to open fully, ours hit the bed. The TV is good even if not much to watch.
We ventured out to get something to eat, we were told there was a restaurant just around the corner. Well we couldn’t find anything that looked appealing so settled on Pringles and a bottle of Coke.
The bed was firm, actually not bad, but lacking in pillows.

We had to be at airport early and the lady on the desk the night before told us to be downstairs at 6am, which we were, just few minutes early. Quite a trip along the corridor, up some stairs, along another corridor and then downstairs, all in the dark. We found the reception desk still deserted and waited for someone to arrive. Just after 6 the young fellow who had picked us up the night before came down and looked surprised to see us. He drove us to the airport in the morning gloom, he was more talkative than the previous evening at least. As he dropped us off he said be sure to leave a review for Tripadvisor, which we have done. Would we stay there again, I don’t know, it was handy and cheap but seemed very dated. Think Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, but not as charming…
