The Epicurious Wanderers!

Christchurch Days

Feel like I’ve been neglecting the travel blog the last few days, but haven’t always had internet access and have been busy doing the family things.

OK, so we took a ride on the ferry across to Picton and then the train to Christchurch.  Ferry ride was smooth and fairly uneventful, we then a wander around Picton, very nice place to see.  Train to Christchurch was a bit rattly but not too bad.

Then on to the days in Christchurch, we’ve been pretty busy catching up with Helen’s family amongst some sight seeing and shopping trips.  So far we’ve been to the Antarctic Centre, that’s well worth a visit, the Hagglund ride is guarranteed to shake you up a bit.

The 4D theatre is also pretty special, they add the elements of wind and spray to the normal 3D movie, very cool.

We’ve been out to dinner a few times and yesterday had a family picnic.  Was nice and warm, managed to hit 34C, but was a very windy so a little unpleasant at times.  I took a trip to Lake Tekapo with Paul on Saturday, was a nice drive and some great scenery. Will add some photos later, need to do some editing first.  Added to photos as part of the Mt Cook post, same patch of road to Tekapo so saved doubling up.

Today we are off to Mt Cook, will add some notes from there when we get back.
