The Epicurious Wanderers!

Wellington

Well we’ve been exploring Wellington and have to say that yes it is windy! Also have to say it’s a very nice place, the people are friendly and it’s all so close that getting around is a breeze.
It’s beginning to look like we are on a gastronomic tour of the place though, so far we’ve found an amazing bar, The Malthouse. The range of beers there is awesome.  We had lunch there yesterday with Leanne and Jason who own the At Home Hotel where we are staying.  Leanne greeted us like an old friend when we checked in and while showing us the room invited us to join them for lunch.  We decided this sounded good and I’m glad we did, they gave us some hints on places to check out and some to maybe avoid, as well as confirming our thoughts on a couple of good restaurants to visit.  Last night we dined at The Ambeli, this was just an amazing place.  The food and the service were first class, the staff know just when to appear at your table and when not to.  The food is just sensational, we had them wine match for us, at Leanne’s suggestion, so instead of us picking a bottle of wine we each had a glass to match the food for each course.  John, our waiter, was spot on with his choices, the wines complimented the food to perfection.

Today we are heading out to ride the cable car,  wander back down the hill, have some lunch and check Te Papa, the National Museum.  Oh yes and find another place to eat tonight.  We’ll report back on all this tomorrow.
